Lake Toxaway

• Western North Carolina’s Largest Private Lake

• Water Source: Part of the Savannah River Basin with multiple streams feeding the lake.  Main source of water is the Toxaway River

• Recreation: Swimming, boating, skiing and tubing, and fishing (No jet or kite skiing)

Lake Cardinal

• Size: 65 acres
• Shoreline: 2 miles
• Elevation: 3,030 feet
• Water Source: Toxaway River and various streams
• Fish: Rainbow and brook trout, large and smallmouth bass, and bluegill
• Access: Private, for use of property owners adjacent to Lake Cardinal
• Recreation: Swimming, canoeing, motor boating (up to 3 HP electric motors), small boat sailing, and kayaking

• Lake Toxaway is comprised of approximately 5,000 acres and is bounded by seven mountains:

• More than 50 % of Transylvania County is government forests.  Lake Toxaway Estates is bounded by a state parks and a national forest:
• Panthertown Valley -    6,700 acre nature preserve (Part of the Nantahala National Forest)
• Gorges States Park – 7,500 acres
